Okay, you’re a youth minister, now what?

I wanted to share this great blog post by my friend and colleague, Randall Curtis: http://episcoforma.org/2016/08/18/okay-youre-a-youth-minister-now-what/

Although, I recommend a different set of readings for first-time youth ministers, here’s my list (all available on Amazon.com):

  • My First Two Years in Youth Ministry: A personal and practical guide to starting right by Doug Fields
  • Sustainable Youth Ministry: Why most youth ministry doesn’t last and what you can do about it by Mark DeVries (Randall also recommends this one!)
  • Creating Classrooms where Teachers Love to Teach and Students Love to Learn by Bob Sorenson (I always have the summer interns read this one!)
  • Hurt 2.0: Inside the World of Today’s Teenagers by Chap Clark
  • The Episcopal Christian Educator’s Handbook by Sharon Ely Pearson

I also maintain a list of recommended books and curriculum helpers on Amazon.com, you can check it out here: https://amzn.com/w/A6WCCJOWFDO0
