Miqra 2017 Update

Miqra is now February 18, 19, and 20. We will keep the same schedule as the previously scheduled weekend, registration will be Saturday, February 18, 1-2 pm. The closing celebration will be at 10 am on Monday, February 20, and check-out will be from 10:30-11 am on Monday. The event will be held at St. Michael and All Angels, 6630 Nall Ave, Mission, KS 66202.

Alternative check-out time available
I’ve checked most of the major school districts. Wichita, Blue Valley, Shawnee Mission, Olathe, and Newton all have Monday, February 20, off of school for President’s Day. Unfortunately, Maize, Manhattan and Topeka do not. For those with school or other obligations on Monday, we will offer an alternative check-out time on Sunday night. I recommend checking-out after dinner, between 7-8 pm, but if you’d prefer to check-out at another time on Sunday, just let me know and that will be no problem.

Help out with the early reading!
We actually begin reading the Bible at 9 am Friday morning in order to get the entire Bible done by Monday. Adult volunteers, members of the diocesan Youth Commission and 12th graders are invited to arrive anytime after 4 pm on Friday, February 17, to help with the early reading (but they must RSVP to me!). If you are one of those students with school on Monday and you’d also like to come early, just let me know and that can be arranged. Adults, parents, college students, and church staff are also invited to help us with the reading on Friday during the day. Sign up here: www.volunteersignup.org/EFETR.

Music Weekend offered in conjunction with Miqra
In order to avoid overloading students and volunteers, we’ve moved the Youth Music Weekend to be held in conjunction with the early Miqra weekend. Anyone who currently plays with the “Mustard Seeds” youth band, or anyone who wants to start playing with the band, can join us for this mini-event. We will gather between 4-6 pm on Friday, February 17, until 1 pm on Saturday, February 18, when Miqra begins. Attendance at Miqra is not required, although it is encouraged because our musicians will be providing music for the 8:45 am worship service at St. Michael’s on Sunday. Musicians are invited to register for the Youth Music Weekend here:https://edok.formstack.com/forms/musicweekend2017

Miqra registration is open
If you have a friend at church or school who would like to come to Miqra, we will continue to accept registrations until February 17. The priority deadline is February 10 and the price increases by $15 after that date. Students and adult volunteers can register online at: https://edok.formstack.com/forms/miqra2017

Need to cancel?
If this new weekend doesn’t work for you, please let me know ASAP, but no later than Friday, February 10, and I will issue a full refund.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. I look forward to seeing you at Miqra next month!

Grace & Peace,
