New Beginnings is a weekend retreat focusing on the two greatest commandments: loving God with all of our heart, mind, and strength, and loving our neighbors as ourselves. The retreat is led by a team of youth and adults from around the diocese.
What do students do at the retreat?
Student participants (grades 6-8) are engaged in a fun and deeply meaningful program including talks about faith, family, friendship, and peer pressure. There is also rich worship with excellent music. And don’t forget games, skits, small group discussion, yummy food, a talent show, and a movie, oh my!
Student staff (grades 9-12) can serve as family group leaders or “prayer, care, and share” team members. The PCS team puts on skits throughout the weekend. There will be a staff planning day on Saturday, March 23, 2019, 1:30-3:30 pm at St. Andrew’s in Emporia.
Youth rectors for New Beginnings in March 2019 will be decided at Miqra 2019. John Butler is the rector for this New Beginnings. Students currently in the 11th and 12th grade can apply to be one of the youth rectors for the event and lead the entire weekend. Applications for New Beginnings rector are available in the winter. The Application form can be accessed here and the reference form here. Interviews will take place at Miqra. If you cannot attend Miqra, alternative arrangements can be made.
