Scholarships

The diocese does not want money to prohibit anyone from attending a youth event.

Parishes are the primary source of scholarships for diocesan youth events. All diocesan youth events (including camp) are budgeted to “break even,” thus scholarships at the diocesan level are extremely limited. The ideal model for families with financial need is that the parish provides a 1/3 scholarship, the diocese provides a 1/3 scholarship and the family pays for 1/3 of the registration fee. In cases of extreme family need, the diocese can give up to a half scholarship if there are matching funds from the parish. If the parish is not able to provide funds, the rector can request a full scholarship on behalf of the student by contacting the Youth Missioner.

If you need a scholarship to attend an event, just indicate that on the registration form requesting assistance. Your rector or youth minister at your home parish will automatically be sent a notification of your registration and request for assistance. We do recommend you follow-up with them to be sure they have the funds and are able to provide assistance.

There are also a plethora of fundraising ideas that can be done in a group (if your parish has a youth group) or on your own to help raise funds for youth events and camp.

If you would like to help provide scholarships for youth events, you may submit donations via PayPal or check.

To pay with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or debt card via PayPal, use this online form https://www.formstack.com/forms/?1741671-YYO9Dim1B7 (you do NOT need a PayPal account).

Checks can be made payable to “Episcopal Diocese of Kansas” and mailed to:

Karen Schlabach
EDOK Youth Office
10003 W. 70th Ter.
Merriam, KS 66203

Your donation is tax deductible and every penny will go directly towards youth scholarships for events. We are only able to provide about 20 scholarships for 1/3 the price of camp, so donations help us extend that to more youth.
